The state's most dazzling win- ter fete is the Alpine Festival held at Canaan Valley and Blackwater Falls state parks in Tucker County. Dates for 1979's festival are March 1-4. Begun as a small event by the Washington, D.C., ski club sev- eral years, ago, the festival was incorporated in 1968 by the Alpine Festival Association which is composed of business- es and interested people in Tucker County.
