(WEE STITCHERS MEET) The Wee Stitchers Club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Nancy Jo Crawford. The afternoon was spent in sewing on doll clothes and in playing, games. The hostess served a delicious molded fruit salad course and cake to the follow- ing members of the club: Miss Mr. and Mrs. James Raines of Indian Mills are announcing the birth of a baby girl, born February 10, 1979 in the Sum- mers County Hospital. The new- comer weighed 5 lb. and 10 and i2 oz. Edward Dale Andrews celebrated his 4th birthday Feb. 7, 1979. llis niother baked and decorated a beautiful birthday cake for the occassion and hostess her son's party. The honoree has an older sister, Melinda Gwinn and a younger brother Allen. lie is the son of Stephen and Kathy Andrews and grandson of Charles and Faye Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Itomer Andrews. Recipe from Noralee's Kit- chen (JIFFY DEVILED EGGS) 8- hard-cooked eggs, 1 half cup relish- type sandwich spread, 1 tablespoon milk, 1 teaspoon prepared spicy brown mustard, 1 fourth teaspoon salt, pinch of pepper. Chill eggs, then peel and halve length wise.. Mash yolks with fork and blen in remaining ingredients; stuff into whites, mounding mixture up, and serve. Note flavor will be better if eggs are chilled about one hour before serving. The late Mrs. (?) was a bus- iness woman, played the guitar and sang beautiful- ly, and was a friend to everyone she knew. I am sure she would be pleased to know how many of her friends at True remember her. The mystery photo- graph in last weeks llinton was Roy Lucas and is the son of Emma Lucas of Little Powler Creek. He is employed at the Bluestone Tire Co. on Summers Street. Hospital. She is in room 255. Pearl Petrey of Forest Hill Road has been a patient in the Summers County Hospital for the past several days. She is in room 328. Nathen Tickle was released from the Princeton Community Hospital February 12, 1979 and is recuperating in his home at True. Announcing the birth of a 6 lb. and 13 oz. baby girl named Melissa Dawn Hurst. The proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. (Judy Houchins) Jerry Hurst of Pick- erington, Ohio. Melissa has a sister Vicky and brother, Brian. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E.Z. Edwards of True and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Houchins of Pipestem. She has one great grandparents Mrs. E.T. Ed- wards of True. Tim Hovatter of Princeton visited with his uncle and aunt Wayne and Karen McBride of True this past weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Clendel Hill of Pipestem visited Mr. Hill's younger brother, Junior ltill who resides at Beckley and speot the weekend in his home. Grants West Virginia University has received a $27,144 grant from the National Eye Institute to continue research on lens and neural retina development and regeneration. Dr. Randall Reyer of the School of Med- icine's department of anatomy is in charge of the project. be used in a birthday story for Dr. Ritter. Perhaps the latest photograph of him, and his birth- day story was written the same afternoon that he slipped away in his sleep to ever be with the Lord. In honor of our departed friend we are dedicating the Valetine story to his beloved wife and children.. Dr. Ritter's family and friends can truly take comfort in the hours of bereavement in the testimoney that he left behind. Dr. Ritter's walk down through life showed the evid- ence of the holy Spirit which only indwells in the hearts of the saved. From here on we must think of Dr. Ritter enjoying the prom- ise of God. (It is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. I Car. 2:9) Summers County's Valentine Dr. David Wayne Ritter of Nelson Street will celebrate his 75th birthday anniversary Feb. 14, 1979 on Valentines Day. And I believe that most every- one in Summers Comity will agree that Dr. Ritter is truly a sweetheart when we think of how he has used his God given talent to mend our bones, per- formed needed surgery to bring us back to health, birth our babys, and stood by us with his prayers and skill in what ever ailed us, and never turned any of us away because we might not be able to pay for his services. In behalf of the citizens of Summers County and else Thurs. Feb. 15, 1979 Hinton News ay, 9 a.m. 7:30 Firs! where who will never have the opportunity to express their love and appreciation to our Valentine. (Dr. Ritter we are truly fort- une to, have a man of your ability and compassion to dwell in our county and serve us with your talent. My God bless you and keep you gently in his care and may your works praise you through OUt eternity). Dr. Ritter was bern in Win- chester, Virginia on February 14, 1904. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. O.T. Ritter. He att- ended and graduated from Handley High School in Winch- ester. After graduation, he spent 2 years internstip at St. Josephs ltospital in Reading, Pennsylvania. There he meet his bride, Miss Lorraine Mau- ger and they were joined in matrimony November 2, 1930. Then he entered General Pract- ice in Winchester for one year. In January of 1932 he accepted a position with the liinton Hos- pital where he was assistant surgeon. In theyear of 1941 Dr. Ritter was taken into the Fel- lows of American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.) At a later date was accepted into Fellows of International College of Sur- geons ( F.I.C.S. ), also the Amer- ican Society of Abdominal Sur- geons and the American Med- ical Association. Dr. Ritter was associated with the Hinton Hospital 45 years until its closihg two years ago. He continues to see pat- tents in his office in the Hinton Hospital Building. Dr. Ritter is the attendig physician at the State Prison for Women at Pence Springs. Also serves as Health Officer. lie was elected to the West Virginia tIouse of delegates in the year of 1976 and served two year term. Dr. and Mrs. Ritter are the parents of two children, David Jr. and Sarah Ann Hitter Osborne. They have seven grandchildren and are members of the Ascension Episcopal Church in Hinton.
