Smith Miller.
Mrs. Clower was a homemaker
and a member of the First Baptist
Church of Bacldey.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, David B. Clower.
Survivors include two sons,
David Clower of Richmond, Vs. and
Hobart Clower o~)unbar; a brother,
Charlie Miller of Tampa, Fla., and
two sisters Myrtle Licker of Mel-
bourn, Floridaand Madeline Jones
of Hinton; 14 grandchildron, and 14
great-grandchildren.
- Services were held Sat. Feb. 10
at 11 a.m. at the Blue Ridge Fu.
nera] Home Chapel in Prosperity.
Burial followed in the Blue Ridge
Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
PRINCIE A. COX,
Princie ~ (Jim) COx Sr., 78, for-
merly of Summers County, died
Tues. Feb. 6, at 12:15 a.m., in a
London, Ohio hospital following a
long illness.
Born June 6, 1911, in Summers
County, he was the son of the late
Luther and Lula Blankenship Cox.
Mr. Cox was a former cea] miner
and was employed as a prison guard
at the Marysville Ohio Prison for
Women, where he retired in 1974
and wasamember of the Soak Creek
Tabernacle Church.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Dora May Mathews Cox on
Nov. 21, 1989.
Survivors include six sons,
James, Glen and Donald Cox, all of
London, Prince Cox Jr. of South
Vienna, Ohio, Jack Cox of Spring-
field, Ohio and Gary Cox of St. Paul,
Minn.; five daughters, Trossie
Hastings-Taylor of Columbus, Ohio,
Helen Brooks of Matoaka, Gloria
Farmer of Manassas, Vs., Clarice
Bailey of Flower Mound, Texas, and
Carole Ellis of Riverdale, Md.; 11
grandsons; 16 gran'ddaughters; 11
great-grandchildren, two brothers,
Okey and Hermmi Cox, both of
Sophia; two sisters, Joy Blevins of
Sophia and Pauline Foley ofRhodell;
a special friend, Barbara Mummey
of Summerford, Ohio, and several
nieces and nephews.
Services were held Fri. Feb. 9 at
11 a.m. at the Eherle Funeral Home,
103 North Main St., London, Ohio
with the Rev. Okey Cox officiating.
Burial followed in the Kirkwood
Cemetery at London. •

Born April 6, 1945, at Crumpler,
she was the daughter of Alice Dowdy
Richmond of Elk Knob and the late
Clifford Mills.
Mrs. Lilly was a member of the
Judeon Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Leslie Dallas Lilly on
March 1, 1989 and a brother, Wil-
liam Walter Mills on Jan. 2, 1989.
Other survivors include her step-
father, Harve Richmond of Elk
Knob; two daughters, Victoria Lynn
Mills Wickline of Elk Knob and
Rebecca Jane Willey Mansfield of
Hinton; twobrothers, Kelly R. Mills
of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Howard
Mills of Hinton ; a sister, Frances
Melvin ofTazewell, Va.; two step-
sisters, Rachel Gilpin and Jenny
Angell, both of Covington, Va., and
two grandchildren.
Services were held Sat. Feb. 10
at 2 p.m. at the E. M. Meadows
Funeral Home in Hinton with the
Elder Kenna Lilly officiating. Bur-
ial followed in the Upland Ceme-
tery at Upland.
The body was at the E. M. Mead-
ows Funeral Home in Hinton.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
DR. THOMAS lVL SAWYERS
Dr. Thomas McCreery Sawyers,
72, formerly of Hinton, died Sat.
Feb. 3, in a Fontana, Calif. care
center following a short illness.
Born March 4, 1917, at Hinton,
he was the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Judge William H. Sawyers.
Mr. Sawyers was a World War II
veteran, had received his early
education in Hinton, was a gradu-
ate of the Episcopal High School in
Alexandria, Vs., received his Bache-
lor and Medical Degree from the
University of Virginia in Charlot-
tesville, Vs.
He was chief of surgery with 30
years of service at the Kaiser Per-
monte Hospital in Fontana.
Survivors include his wife, Leon-
ore Amory Sawyers; three sons, Pe-
ter Sawyers of Los Angeles, Calif.,
Frederick Sawyers of San Francisco,
Calif., and Robert Sawyers at home;
two daughters, Mrs. Robert Sherris
of Cornallis, Oreg., and Mrs. Larry
Rumm of Upland, Calif.; a brother,
Frederick W. Sawyers of Hinton,
and five grandchildren.
The body was cremated.

At a meeting on Jan. 25, the
Board of Directors ofthe Flannagan-
Murrell House, Inc. voted to change
the name of the organization to the
Campbell-Flannagan-Murrell
House, Inc. This change came as a
result of further research into the
background of the building. It ap-
pears that the house was originally
built by Edgar Campbell and was
then sold to his daughter and son-
in-law Mr. and Mrs. John W. Flan-
nagan. The group felt that the
name should be changed to include
the original builder.
The next meeting will be held on
Feb. 22, at 5:00 at the offices of
Ziegler and Gunnoe, 110 James
Street, Hinton. Everyone who is
interested is invited to attend. If
