The New International Versions
Dear Editor:
"For men shall be lovers of their
ownselves, boasters, proud." (2
Timothy 3:2 KJB).
Men who are lovers of their
ownself feed on flattery and on a
smorgasbord ofhoneywords. Ancient
Greek mythology tell us that Zeus
sent Hermes with self-esteem, a
prophet of idolatry writes Hislop. So
Hermes with self-esteem, a prophet
of idolatry writes Hislop. So Hermes
sent Wescott and other prophets of
pride such as Mr. Schuller which
tells his congregation: "Do not fear
pride. God's almost impossible task
is to keep us believing every hour of
the day how great we are."
That god must be Zeus and not
the God of the Bible King James
1611. The new versions and
perversions with help from Wescott's
Hermes club, put pride on a
pedestal.
through 15 KJB)
Did you know that Wescott
founded the club of Hermes for the
worship of Lucifer?
Diligent students of eastern
religions which involved
Neoplatonism are not deceive by
these new versions. Why? Because
the modern versions are a produce
of B/Aleph New Greek which in term
are the mystify minds of Wescott and
Hort.
Dear friends don't be deceive by
these modern versions. They are
another tool to lead you down the
road of apostasy. The King James
Bible is the word of God.
"But he giveth more grace,
wherefore he saith, God resisteth
the proud, but giveth grace unto the
humble." (James 4:6 KHB)
True Bible-believing Christians
washed in the blood of the Lamb are
not proud people.

pride.
The NIV James 1:9 - Ought to
take pride.
The NIV Gal. 6:4 - Take pride in
himself.
The word pride or proud is
Hupevephanos this word occurs no
where in the above verses.
The word in the Greek (MS) is
Kauchaomai, meaning to rejoice.
What does the word God King
James 1611 has to say about pride?
A) God resisteth the proud.
(James 4:6)
B) Be not proud. (Jeremiah 13:15)
C) Pride goeth before destruction.
(Prey. 16:18)
D) God hates pride. (Prey. 6:16,
17)
Did you know that it was the sin
of pride which send Lucifer down the
road to hell? (See Isaiah 14 verse 12

The Heart of MOPS is Caring.
By Roy C. Long
Prior to and immediately
following the Revolutionary War,
Colonial Virginia and particularly
George Washington advocated a
canal system to push the frontier
westward. The canal system was to
use the James and Kanawha waters
to connect with Lake Erie at what
is now Cleveland, Ohio. The James
River Canal was built west from
Richmond, Virginia, reaching
Buchanan Virginia in 1851. The
James River and Kanawha
Company was formed in 1835 and
would be in charge of pushing the
canal system on westward.
During the late 1820's and the
beginning of the railroad era, the
impetus was with the railroads as
the future mode of transportation.
In those days, short line railroads
were springing up all over the U. S.,
later to be bought or merged
together to form larger companies.
The railroads were able to move
ahead of the canal system in spite
of strong opposition as indicated by
the following letter written by one
who was later to become President
of the U. S.
"To: President Andrew Jackson.
The canal system of this country
is being threatened by the spread of
a new form of transportation known
as Yailroad.' The federal government
must preserve the canals for the
following reasons.
One. If canal boats are
supplanted by railroads serious
unemployment will result. Captains,
cooks, drivers, hostlers, repairmen
and lock tenders will be left without
means of livelihood, not to mention
the numerous farmers now
employed in growing hay for horses.
Two. Boat builders would suffer
and two-line, whip and harness
makers would be left destitute.
Three. Canal boats are absolutely
essential to the defense of the U. S.
In the event of the expected trouble
with England, the Erie Canal would
be the only means by which we could
ever move the supplies so vital to
waging mern war, ,, :". " '"
For the above mentioned reasons
the government should create an
Interstate Commerce Commission to
protect the American people from
the evils of Yallreads' and to preserve
the canals for posterity.
As you may well know, Mr.
President, 'railroads carriages are
pulled by the enormous speed of 15
miles per hour by 'engines' which,
in addition to endangering life and
limb of passengers, roar and snort
their way through the countryside,
setting fires to crops, scaring the
livestock and freightening women
and children. The Almighty
certainly never intended that people
should travel at such breakneck
speed.
Martin Van Buren
Governor of New York

the 23 mile Louisa Railroad from
Froderick's Hall Virginia to Hanover
Junction (now Doswell Virginia) and
leased the Louisa RR to the
Richmond Frederick and Potomac
Railroad for use as a branch of their
line. 23 mile line would later
become a part of the Chesapeake
and Ohio Railway and now (1886) a
part of the conglomerate CSX
Corporation. The R. F. & P. gave up
their lease in 1847 and the Louisa
Railroad was built on west to
Gordonsville, V-n'ginia. Shortly after
reaching Gordonsvillet the name
was changed to Virginia Central. A
charter was granted the Virginia
Central to continue it's line west to
Covington Virginia in 1850.
Construction continued west
reaching Jackson River Station (now
Clifton Forge, VA.) July 10, 1857. It
was intended for the Virginia
Central to connect with the canal
system at Covington, VA. The canal
system from Covington to the
Kanawha was known at that time
as "the great connection."

New W. VA. Report Card
Dear Editor:
The new West Virginia Report
Card carries good news about the
Summers County schools. Students
in the High School scored highest in
the region on the ACT and SAT
examinations, a good predictor of
eventually success in college.
Everyone involved in the school
system -- taxpayers, teachers,
students and administrators --
should be commented, especially
because the job was done with
meagre resources.
Naturally, we are elated at
Concord for you have sent many of
your "best and brightest" to Athens
for the continuation of their
education. Their presence has
contributed to the creation of
entering freshman classes here that
are among the best in West
Virginia's public colleges and
universities. And, their achievement
merits note. Over the past several
years, Concord's graduates have
been admitted to the nation's most
competitive graduate and
professional schools including John
Hopkins, MIT, Stanford, University
of Virginia, Duke, Emery, and
Washington and Lee.
Albert Einsterin once said that he
"saw far because he stood on the
shoulders of giants." May I offer a
variation of that theme. We take
your students farther in their
education at Concord because you
have brought them so far. The
partnership is a good one. Let's
continue to build on it.

When to Use Special
Stroke/Heart Attack
Medicines
A group of medicines called
the thrombolytics ("clot-busting
drugs") can be life saving if given
early enough to stroke and heart
attack victims. According to a re-'
port in a recent issue of the journa!
Circulation, the life-saving ben-
efit of this group of medicines oc-
curs during the first hour after a
heart attack. The report indicates
that clot dissolvers given this
quickly almost triples a person's
chances of surviving. Protection
from the drug may last for several
years.
According to Annals of Emer-
gency Medicine, studies show that I
most stroke victims arrive at hos-. t
pital emergency rooms too late to
benefit from the neurological dam-
age protecting benefit of clot bust-
ing drugs such as aheplace (Acti-
vase). The window of time avail-
able for stroke victims to receive
benefit from clot dissolving drugs
in one study was three hours from
the onset of symptoms.
Other clot dissolving medicines
include urokinase (Abbokinasc),
streptokinase (Streptase; Kabiki-
nase) and reteplase (Retavase).
These medicines c.ause the activa-
tion of a substance in the body
called plasminogen, which is con-
vcrted into plasmin. The natural
enzyme plasmin dissolves threads
of fibrin that form in blood clots.
