being accepted now and the dead-
line for receiving these applications
is March 25, 1990. The fundd are
corn pletely non-discriminatory. Any
group which meets the guidelines
of the program is eligible.
These are the guidelines: The
proposal must originate in " the
Community of Need'; must be con.
trolled by"~e CornmunityofNeed';
and the Program must benefit "the
Community of Need~.
Very simple applications are
most desirable and a form for guid-
ance is available.
The 1989 grants brought great
satisfaction to the committee as
excellent projects were funded
which developed the independence,
self-esteem and well-being of vari-
ous individuals and groups.

Meetin"
The D~.V.A. Hinton Unit #30
met Jan. 7th at 7 p.m. at the Memo-
rial Building for their business
meeting. Sr. Vice Commander Vs.
Rippetoe called the meeting to or-
der in absent of Cornmander Rhonda
Willey. Opening Prayer ~offered
by Chaplain Ethel Herandez. Adju-
tant Garnett Meadows called the
roll of officers and read the minutes
of the least meeting. Treasurer
Geneva Sowder gave the treasurer
report.
The cards sent to the sick and
shut -ins was reported. All reports
was approved as read. The letters
from Headquarters was read to the
members. The meeting adjourned
with prayer by the chaplain. The
next meeting will be Feb, 13th.

THIRD SCHOOL REEI~ON
The third school reunion of Tal-
cott High School will be held on
May 26 and 27, 1990 at the school.
This reunion is not limited to only
those who graduated from Talcott
High School; anyone who wants to
attend this reunion is cordially
invited. The reunion will begin at
12:00 noon on Sat., May 26, with a
covered dish dinner social at the
school.
A dance will be held at the Na-
tional Guard Armoryin Hinton from
9 p.m. until 2 a.m.
To conclude the reunion celebra-
tion, a worship service and tea will
be held at the school on Sun., May
27, at 11:00 a.m.

Training in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR) will be offered
through a four.week series of eve-
ning classes beginning Jan. 25 at
Concord College, according to in-
structor Georgia Kelley. Classes will
meet from 6 to 10 p.m. in Centen-
nial Hall room 406 on the Athens
campus.
Adult, child, and baby CPR will
be covered in the class, offered in
cooperation with the American Red
Crms. Community members are
welcome to enroll at no charge.
College credit is being offered for
$38, or at no additional charge for
full-time students.
At the same time on Thursday
nights, training to become a CPR
instructor will be offered. Coach
Kelley is the only individual in the
area certified to train CPR instruc-
tors.
