DEWEY GLENDON KEATON Dewey Glendon Keaton, 76, of • Tug Creek, Hinton, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at his home, following a long illness. Born June 16, 1922, at Pipestem, he was the son of the late Lloyd L. and Emma Neely Keaton. Mr. Keaton was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Gray Maseey Keaton; former wife, Catherine Lilly of Hinton; three daughters, Helen Roark and her husband, Billy, of Coal City, Connie Ward and her husband, Timmy, and Becky Massey both of Hinton; four sons, Melvin Keaton of Falls Church, VA., Michael Keaton and his wife, Janie, of Jumping Branch, Larry Keaton of Hinton, and Gary Wayne Keaton and his wife, Carol, of Hinton; two sisters, Geneva Keaton and her husband, Harold, of Hilldale and Ruth Lilly of Baltimore, MD.; 12 grandchildren, five step grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 2 p. m. Sunday, January 10th. at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Lawrence Bennett officiating. Burial followed in Fox Cemetery, Brooks. KIRBY Thelma Geraldine =Gerry" Kirby, 68 of Charlottesville, die d ,Wednesday, December 30, 1998 in a local hospital. Born March 17, 1930 in Hinton, W. VA. she was the daughter of the late Archie Edward Cooper and Guuie Schrader Cooper. Mrs. Kirby reuid from ComdiM after S 1 ars and was a member of the University Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Donald L. Kirby; a sister, Imogene Ewing; three brothers, Whitt, Raymond and Charles Cooper. She is survived by two sons, Ronald L. Kirby and his wife Sandra J. of Wake Forest, NO., formerly of Charlottesville and Steven L. Kirby and his wife Suzzanne O. of Charlottesville; two sisters, Marggie Mock of Hinton, W. VA. and Phyllis Berry of Indiana; a brother, Jerry Cooper also of Hinton, W. VA. and by four grandchildren, Scott& Kirby of Fairmont, W. VA., Jennifer L. Kirby of Charlole, Bryson L. Kirby of Charlottesville and Alnsley T. Kirby of Lynchburg. Funeral services were conducted at 12 Noon Saturday, January 2, 1999 in the Chapel of the Hill and Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin, 89, of Princeton, formerly of Hinton, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in a Princeten hospital following a long illness. Born January 6, 1909, in Greenbrier County, she was the daushter ofthe late Everett and Lou Tuckwiller a. Mrs. Martin was a former Nicholas County imhool teach, a homemaker, and had lived most of her life in Hinton. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Ray. C. H. Martin Sr.; a grandson, Joel David Martin; three sisters, Thelma Sims, Lou Groescloso and Elizabeth Holiday. Survivors include a son, Pastor C. H. Martin and his wife, Betty, of Princeton; three granddaughters, IJunmy Lynn Ring of Brazil, Teresa Taylor of Memphis, Tenn., and Tanye Martin of Richmond, VA. and six great-grandchildren. Service= was held at 11 a. m; Tuesday, January lh., at Liberty Baptist Church, Princeton, with Pastors Wallace Smith and Grag Kinzer officiating. Burial followed in Greenbrier Burial Park, Hinton. Men of the church served as pallbearers. Thursday Jan. 7, 1999, in a Beckley hospital. - Born Sept. 23, 1926, at Hix, he was t he son of the late Roscoe and Annie Honaker O'Bryan. Mr. O'Bryan was a retired employee of the West Virginia Department of Highways, a former farmer and timberman and operated Hix Store. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Hix, and had lived all his life at Hix. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel West and Marie O'Bryan. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Taylor Oryan; a son J. R. O'Bryan of Hix; a daughter Linda Lane of Hix, two brothers, Marion 0]ryan of Hix and James Clyde Grimmett of Hinton; five sisters, Maude Burdette of Hix, Mildred Martin of Peterstown; Mac Adkins of Ravenswood, Marjorie Bowles of Hilldale and Mary Jane Dick of Toledo, Ohio; three grandchildren, Bryan Adkins of Hickory, N.C., Michael Adkins of Shady Spring and Bethany Oryan of Hix; and a great-granddaughter, Mikayla Aclkins of Hickory, N.C. Wednesday, Jan. 7,1999, in a Princeton hospital following a long ' illness. Born Dec. 3, 1916, at Pipestem, she was the daughter of the late Mose and Lizzie Pettry Meadows. Mrs. Shrader was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Hinton. She had lived all of her life in Summers County. Survivors include a son, John Henry Shrader and his wife, Theresa, of Pipestem; five daughters, Emma Marie Petrey of Hinton, Irene Lilly and her husband, Walter, of Battle Creek, Mich., Betty Mae Miller and her husband, Tommy, of Zion Mountain, Hinton, Nancy Pettry and her husband, Pack and htDr husband, Glry, of Pipeetem; a son-in-law, Tommy Rakes of Zion Mountain, Hinton; a brother, John B. Meadows of Pipestem; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; a great great- grandchild: and six step grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p. m. SMITH Leva A. Smith, 83, of 1121 Summers St., Hinton, died Tuesday, Jan 5, 1999, at her home following a long illness. Born Aug. 17, 1915, at Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Ward and Lavlette Bennett Graham. Mrs. Smith was a member of Avis Holiness Church, a former employee of the old Hinton Hospital, Bluestone State Park and the Hinton Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Smith Sr., on April 7, 1966; three sisters, five brothers and two infant grandchildren. Survivors include five sons, Willard Smith and his wife, Garnet, and Charles Smith and his wife, Nancy, all ofMle, N.C., Roy Smith, Ronnie Smith and his wife, Bonnie, and Samuel Smith Jr., all of Hinton; six daughters, Juanita Wills and her husband, Bobby, and Zelma Koury and her husband, Emo, all of McLeansville, N.C., Velma Richards and her husband, Jimmy, of Whitsett, N.C., Armenta Richmond and her husband, Terry, of Shinnston, Janet Smith and her husband, Dan, of Columbus, Ohio, and Marie Dodd Ratliff and her husband, Ken, of Beckley; 34 grandchildren; 34 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Audie Graham and Ulass Fox, both of Hinton; and a sister, Julia (Lethie) Yest of Parkersburg.
