Hlstorle Green Sulphur
Store Gutted by Fire
Fire completely destroyed the Green
Sulphur Springs General Store, Sunday
evening. The blaze that gutted the building
that has stood for over 150-years apparently
started near the flue and spread quickly
throughout the building and through the
roof. The store was still open when the fire
begain. Five fire departments were on the
scene, along with a number of volunteer fire
fighters, fighting the blaze for several hours
before bringing it under control, but because
of the age of the building it was impossible
to contain the fire that did an estimated
$100,000 damage. No injuries were reported.
