Red Sulphur Area Friendship Tree News Reporter Kathy Harris Friends & Neighbors Club News After a summer recess the Friends & Neighbors Club was ready to get back in the swing of things. September 18th. the ladies in the fellowship hall of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Ballard. Mrs. Sally Wilson president and hostess for the day welcomed everyone. The ladies enjoyed being together again singing some of their favorite club songs to get the meeting started. Sally shared some special readings about "Grandparents and Grandchildren" concluding with a humorous reading called "Grandmother's Report Card." Regular business was transacted for the month. Over the summer months over a 100 Sunshine visits, cards and phone calls were reported by club members. The club voted to make donation to the star and cross project that the Calvary Baptist Men's fellowship sponsor for the community. the Ballard Missionary Baptist Church for this event. Many projects were discussed for the upcoming winter months with the idea of making a "Hedge Podge" quilt. Peggy Howdock offered her home for a quilting party if the club would like to come there. This club is always busy learning, working to help others and looking for projects they can enjoy together always thankful for the good times they have at each meeting. Sally served luscious refreshments surrounded by fall foliage in keeping with the upcoming season. Secret sisters gifts were exchanged by those having birthdays, anniversaries or just a welcomed surprise. BIG BEND PSD Big Bend Public Service District will hold their monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the water plant at 3:45 pro. Big Bend PSD serves the areas of Talcott, Halide/e, Pence Springs, and Willowwood Road. The public is invited to attend these meetings. In recognition of the first month of school, the Friendship Tree, in the lobby of Summers County ARH Hospital,' was covered with yellow paper school buses. Many friends made a donation of $1.00 to the Hospital Auxiliary to place the names of someone special on a yellow bus.
