This is the Nineteenth (19th) year for this project, having begun on the first Saturday in October, 1996, and continued every year thereafter. Our annua, I campaign began in late July, 2015 as we met for planning sessions to outline the work that would be needed in order to have a successful event. We formulated a plan that would have us out and about selling chances on our Five Hundered Dollar ($500) cash giveaway at Kroger, Magic Mart, Save- A-Lot, Rite Aid, and at the Summers County High School "Hall Of Fame" Football game. We continued to sell those chances right up to and on the day of the "Walk," and sold more than $2,290 in chances! The lucky winner was Danny Smith of Pipestem, WV We solicited donations for our annual Yard/Bake Sale held in early September and from that event we generated $2,305.83. Again, every item sold at that sale, including every hot dog, soft drink, picture, blanket, furnature, etc., was donated to the cause. Then, we "left no stone unturned" in our efforts i to contact every chumh, school, business, and civic organization seeking financial support of this project. Your response was TREMENDOUS, and finally the long awaited "Walk" day arrived on October 3, 2015! The weather man was right on as rain and storms were predicted, and indeed arrived on schedulel We called on our friends at Ronald Meadows Funeral Home, Pivont Funeral Home, Johnny Jones, Grog & Lori Rogers, and Butch Ballengee to help us put up tents and shelters. The rain couldn't dampen our spirits though and we saw many of our faithful supporters and some newcomers arriving in a sea of pink shirts, hats, scarves, and umbrellas! We weathered the storms and had a wonderful day as we celebrated our nineteenth year with many breast cancer survivors. We Would love to be able to personally thank every single person that participated in this project in anyway; but that is not possible. Therefore we take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thanks to you all. Your efforts have generated $16,647.00 to date and we still expect to receive other donations that have been promised. All funds raised in Summers County for this project remain in Summers County for the use and benefit of our residents. The funds are deposited in a local bank, and are adminisered by our Finance Committee with Stephanie Elkins as Chairman. The efforts ofthe"Walk for Her Lifetime" Committee are 1.00% volunteer, and vUeged to be a part of this organization.
