Garten Classic . -' ; Tournament r I The Garten Classic Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, July 21, at Willow Wood Country Club. The purpose of the tournament is to raise funds for the Garten Scholarship which is awarded yearly to a graduating Summers County High School Athlete to provide educational assistance. It also honors Coach W. L. "Bill" Garten, the winningest coach in Hinton High School history. This year's tournament was a huge success with 80 participants. Finishing in First Place in the Captain's Choice tournament was the team of Patrick Jordan, Scott Stennett, Randy Rhodes and Tom Akers. Finishing in second place was the team of Leslie Ritter, Tink Ritter, D. W. Ritter, Parker Wheby and Jack Scott. Third place was awarded to the team of Richie Hannah, Alfred Hannah, Bobby Conner, J. D. Tillman and Jimmy Noel. The scholarship committee would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our community, Willow Wood Country Club and all :~ our many friends who have " supported this endeavor year after year. The bookmobile is now stocked and ready for regular community stops. We have prepared a fall schedule in conjunction with the school calendar.
