8 - Hinton News Tues. July 31, 2012 . 00;lletta 00Soa00dl FORREN REUNION The Annual Forren Reunion is scheduled for Satueday, August 11 at the Meadow Bridge United Methodist Church in Meadow Bridge. Ham, reunion cake, plates, napkins utinsils and condiments will be provided. Please bring a covered dish and something to donate to the White Elephant auction. PANCAKE AND SAUSAGE BREAKFAST The Hinton Kiwanis Club is having their annual pancake and sausage breakfast on Friday and Saturday mornings, August 3 and 4 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. We would like to invite you to come join us for breakfast and help our :scholarship program as well as other community projects, but if you can't, we will have an "order early" campaign. If you are unable toJjoin us at the church, we will deliver to your place of business. The cost of breakfast is $5.00/ person. We appreciate your participation to help our community and its students. FESTIVAL'S OF LIGHTS Attention all boat owners! Decorate your boat (of any size) and participate in the Water Festival's Lights on the Bluestone boat parade. The boat parade will be Thursday, August 2 at 9:00 p.m. You could win the 1st place prize of$100, 2nd place prize of $75 and $50 for 3rd place. Registration forms can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office, PC Baits or at the marina. You can also register in the pits prior to the parade. After the parade on the lake is finished, you can view the fireworks that will be set off on the Bluestone Dam. HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING Summers County High School Cheerleading tryouts for the 2012- 2013 school year will be held Tuesday July 31 through Friday August 3, from 9:00 a.m. 12:00 noon each day at the SCHS gym. All those interested must have a completed WVSSAC physical form and a completed Insurance Verification form. These forms are available at Summers County High School. Any questions should be directed to coach, Dena Pivont at 304-466-1288. MIDDLE SCHOOL CHEERLEADING Summers Middle School cheerleading tryouts for the 2012- 2013 season will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 6:00 to 7;30 PM at the Summers Middle School Gym. All those interested must have a completed WVSSAC physical and Insurance Verification form. Please direct any further questions to coach Betty Lou Reed at 304-890-1534. MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL Summers Middle School Football will begin practice on Monday August 6th from 3:00 to 6:00 each day. Equipment will be issued at the Middle School Football Dressing Room on Monday August 6th beginning at 1:30 PM. Players should report to practice in shorts and t-shirts and with their own football cleats. Any questions should be directed to coach Adam Rhinehart at 304-673-9040. HIGH SCHOOL GOLF Students interested in playing golf at Summers County High School are to report to the Pipestem State Park Golf Course at 4:00 pm on Monday July 30 for practice. All students trying out must have a completed WVSSAC Physical Form and a completed Insurance Verification Form. These forms are available at the high school. BIBLE SCHOOL CANCELLED Little Wolf Creek Baptist Church will not be having Vacation Bible School this year due to unforeseen conflict with the dates. Watch the paper for the date and time of our "Back to School Fun Day" in August. A day filled with games, food, free gifts, Bible lessons, inging and much more. WILLIAMS FAMILY REUNION The French and Lottie Williams family reunion will be held at the Graham House at Lowell, WV on Saturday, August 4. Please bring a covered dish and plan to arrive around 10 a.m. Dinner at noon. BOARD MEETING The Southern Conservation District monthly board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 9. The meeting will be held at the Southern Conservation District Building , 463 Ragland Road, Beckley. The meeting will begin promptly at 9:45 a.m. Normal business will be conducted. Attention: Women ages 25-64. If you are uninsured or underinsured you may be eligible for pap smear and mammogram (age restrictions for mammograms do apply) through the WV Breast and Cervical Screening Program. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Eddie Wills as the speaker. A covered dish picnic and singing will follow. Bring food and stories to share and spend a day with friends at the historic church and cemetery. Also, bring any pictures or information you would like to share. There will be a work day on Wednesday, August 8 to clean and prepare the church for the homecoming.
