July 3, 2012 Amera Marie Ratliff Granduates Summa Cure Laude Amera Marie Ratliff graduated from Hollins University summa cum laude with departmental honors in English, on Sunday, May 20. She has consistently been on the Dean's Honor Roll every semester graduating with a 3.97 GPA. She is a member of Omicron Delta, Sigma Tau Delta and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies and is also a Hollins Scholar. She not only excels academically but also has been awarded for her outstanding leadership skills. Amera has been accepted to grad school in Israel where she will receive her Master's Degree in Middle Eastern Studies. She will be furthering her study of languages in hopes of obtaining a job in the US Embassy in Israel as a linguist and interpreter. She leaves for Israel the middle of July. Amera is the daughter of Louie and Halley Ratliff of Hinton. Her maternal grandparents are Fred and Penny Young of Big Creek, Hinton and her paternal grandparents are Gladys and the late, Don G. Ratliff of Hinton. MISSING CLASSMATES The Hinton High School Class of Sponsors Band for John Henry Days Ramey Motors, of Princeton, is sponsoring the Folsom Prison Gang, the band headlining the entertainment this year for John Henry Days. Jonathan Sheets from Ramey Motors is shown presenting a $1,800 check to committee volunteer Dolores Moorman to cover the fee for the band. The Folsom Gang (a tribute to John Cash) will perform on Saturday, July 14, at the Great Bend Tunnel at Talcott. The John Henry Days will start on Friday, July 13, and end Sunday, July 15, with the rubber duck race on the Greenbrier River.
