Anniversary George and Freda Krise George and Froda Krise, former Hnton residents, celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last weekend at Pipestem State Park. They were married Feb. 5, 1944 at Memorial Baptist Church in East Beckley. More than 100 family members and friends traveled from Oh., Ky., S.C., N.Y., DE., Ill., Tenn., Ala., Ga. and Vs. to help the Krises celebrate the special occasion. Several people who live locally also attended the event. On Sat. night their three daugh- ters and son hosted a candlelight dinner and dance. They are Georgia and James Gardner of Akron, Oh., ue and Leo Kilpatrick of Suffolk, Vs.; Carolyn and James Burrowbr- idge of Hoover, Ale.; and Ed and Ruth Krise of Akron, Oh. Also in attendance were their ten grand- children: Melody Kilpatrick, James and Judi Gardner, Lisa Jamison, Keri and Mike Eddins, Jim and Missy Burrowbridge, Christianna andGreg Orris, John Gardner and fiancee Shelli Trombetti, Marlena Burrow- bridge, and Stephanie and Jenelle Krise, and three great-grandchil- dren: Ashley Eddins, D. J. Jamison, and Philip Orvis. Mr. Krise, known professionally as =Speedy', is a retired musician and songwriter who performed on WGLS in BeckJey and WOAYin Oak Hill and WNOX and WROL in Kn- oxville, Tenn. Mrs. Krise, who retired from the May Company, is originally from Beaver. Megan Ward Celebrates First Birthday On Sat., Mar. 12th., Little Miss Megan Ward was honored on her first birthday. The party was held at the Dab 7:00 p.m. by her w ,u throughout the dining hall. Her Barney cake was baked and deco- rated by Penny Fitzpatrick. Door prizes were won by Cheryl Angell and Willie Lyons. Refreshments were served to guests by Judy Carol Hartwell, Judy Lynn Hartwell and Valerie Davis. Special thanks to Leonard and Wilton Anderson for use of their dining hall. Gospel Sing To Be Held A gospel sing will be held on Apr. 9th. at the War Ridge Freewill Bap- tist Church. Proceeds will go to Shirley Fox of BaIIengeo, who has cancer. Those that can not attend the gospel singbut would like to make a donation to the fund can send it to: Mrs. Shirley Fox, HC 65, Box 1921A, Ballengee. Mrs. Fox has a 13 year old daugh- ter still at home. Mrs. Fox's husband Roger Fox passed away 2 years ago on Oct. 11, 1992. Mrs. Fox has to pay for the trips to U.V.A. Hospital, food and numerous other accounts. Serve As Pages Ashley Wheeler and Crystal Barker, students in Connie Buckland's fifth grade at Talcott, met with and served as pages for Senator Leonard Anderson on Feb. 15, 1994. They received s certificate and a copy of the W.V. Blue Book and toured the Capitol Building and Cultural Center. They also met and had their picture taken with Governor Gaston Caperton.
